Birds We Saw

"Magnificent Hummingbird" nest with hatchlings in the rain forest - coligri (colibri?)

"Crested Guan"

"Lance-tailed Manakin"

"Lineated Woodpecker"

"Chestnut-headed Oropendola" - clusters of large pouch-like nests hanging from the highest branches of 100-foot trees isolated in clearings - the birds are large and perform acrobatic displays and have a variety of loud, warbling calls - real showoffs.

"Blue-black Grosbeak"

"Chiriqui Quail Dove"

"American Swallow-tailed Kite" - coasting very high over the ravine clearing on the side of Volcan Rincon de la Vieja.
